First of all, who were those whining about it? Secondly, it's called "Cultural Appropriation" in the West; that's the first time I saw it called "cultural theft". Which gives us a clue that the whiners are not Westerners. Third, to the whiners, stop bringing Western sensitivities in Asia.
A true and real Asian don't subscribe to "cultural appropriation" or what you whiners call "cultural theft". A true and real Asian only believes in "cultural APPRECIATION". If something from our neigbourhood becomes popular, it is not "cultural appropriation/theft", it is "cultural appreciation".
I am with the Koreans on this issue. I am not defending Koreans, or the company and the group (I don't even know the group). But if the whiners are Pacific-Asians, shame on you for bringing Western sensitivities in Pacific-Asia. It is #CulturalAPPRECIATION not cultural appropriation / theft.
