The first #Grindadráp of the summer is set to begin in #Leynasandur , #FaroeIsland.

Once again, hundreds of #dolphins will be killed in the name of tradition. As every year, our crew is there to expose and report on the #slaughter.

These animals are not killed for survival, but for custom—by one of the richest nations on Earth. This has to stop.

#StopTheGrind

246 pilot #whales were killed in #Leynar, #FaroeIslands, including at least 30 pregnant females and their unborn calves.

Our crew on the ground has revealed the true scale and cruelty of this #Grindadráp. While
officials claimed a 15-minute hunt, our footage shows over 30 minutes of chaos, plus an hour of terror as the pod was driven into the killing beach.

Newborns, discarded. Mothers, gutted. Some whales struck by boat propellers.

This isn’t tradition. It’s a crisis.

When the #Faroese report the number of animals killed in a #grindadráp, don’t be fooled by the official count.

We’re told 246 long-finned pilot #whales were slaughtered in #Leynar. But photos show animals marked as high as #296, including a calf labelled #277. So, which number is right? 246 or 296?

The truth is: neither.
Why? Because the Faroese only count the animals they intend to eat.

1/2

That means unborn fetuses, very young #calves, and any #dolphins they deem "unfit" are excluded from the tally. These lives — many torn from their mothers — vanish without acknowledgement. Discarded with no thought or respect.

This isn’t just a numbers issue. It’s about #transparency, #ethics, and #accountability. Every life taken should count. But in the #Faroes, many don’t.
