Endorsement time. First, my own City Council district #CD35. The incumbent Crystal Hudson is facing insurgent challengers backed by some of the neighborhood's more vocal NIMBY groups (such as MTOPP). Hudson has been a strong supporter of City of Yes, open streets and better transportation options.
I endorse Crystal Hudson for this race and urge those who live in the district - which includes many of you - to get out there and vote. The opposition is highly motivated and is running on a regressive platform opposing Citibike docks, bike lanes and just about any new development whatsoever.
In #CD38, I endorse the incumbent Shahana Hanif. Another strong voice for transportation, she supported the Arrow Linen rezoning and City of Yes. She is facing a primary challenger funded, in part, by Republican donors.
In #CD4 in Manhattan, I am endorsing Ben Wetzler (@voteben.nyc) and not just because his niece and my daughter are friends. Ben is a strong pro-development voice who wants a better outdoor dining program and the busway on 34th Street. This is an open seat. He faces Carolyn Maloney's daughter.
In #CD1, vote for Jess Coleman, who I wish would leave X for BlueSky. Not that I really need to explain to why Chris Marte should be unseated, but here's @streetspac.org's write-up.
Mayoral ballot update: 1. Lander 2. Zohran 3. A. Adams 4. Myrie 5. Blake I spoke to The Times about this ballot a few weeks ago, but have to update my rankings considering Jessica Ramos' turncoat endorsement of Cuomo. I love Lander's transportation plan for the city.
In the comptroller race, Mark Levine gets my 1st slot. He's been pro congestion pricing and pro streets plan from the start and has long advocated for ending parking minimums. While Brannan has to rep his Bay Ridge constituents, the calls for congestion pricing carve-outs was a deal-breaker.
I think that's about all of them. For more, I'm generally aligned with @streetspac.org's voter guide. Get out there and vote. No Cuomos. www.streetspac.org/2025_nyc_pri...
