To be clear — here is what is happening

DOJ orders ICE to arrest people—even without a judicial warrant

People see these violations of their rights—peacefully protest

LAPD confirms people protested peacefully—as is their Constitutional right

Trump fabricates claim of violence—deploys National Guard

Fascists escalate violence to justify their existence. That’s what Trump is doing. Don’t fall for it. Stand united with our neighbors against this tyranny.

@QasimRashid Are migrant arrests/detainments unlawful? Does ICE = Trump's Brownshirts?

When ICE secretly cancels a student visa, or grabs someone in court who has suddenly become undocumented, they *DO NOT* have the authority to arrests/detain because:

“Unlawful Presence Is Not a Crime” https://www.findlaw.com/legalblogs/criminal-defense/is-illegal-immigration-a-crime-improper-entry-v-unlawful-presence/ Mere unlawful presence in the country is not a crime. It is a violation of immigration law …, but this violation is punishable by civil penalties, not criminal. https://www.mevorahlaw.com/blog/the-facts-

@QasimRashid from Europe, with compassion:

Goodbye USA.

@QasimRashid

He is testing the waters for his next stage of fascism… and also trying to take away the attention from his other lies and debacles.

@QasimRashid

He's going to invoke the insurrection act any minute now. You just know it. He doesn't want to have to hide in his bunker again. He wants American citizens shot on sight

@QasimRashid As I've been saying: Yes, peaceful protests are preferrable for numerous reasons, including that they work 👇 but don't delude yourself that it will keep a fascist government from unilaterally escalating to violence. They will find their Reichstag moment, or they'll simply make it up.

The '3.5% rule': How a small minority can change the world

Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.

BBC

@jwcph @QasimRashid show a peaceful protest that ended up working that wasn't coexistant with a more violent movement so only after the fact they can say it was the peaceful protest that worked.

MLK had Malcom, and in reality it didn't change till the riots.

Ghandi had this: https://theconversation.com/the-forgotten-violence-that-helped-india-break-free-from-colonial-rule-57904

It's a myth the ruling class uses to quell resistance.

The forgotten violence that helped India break free from colonial rule

The road to independence was not a simple tale of civil disobedience.

@QasimRashid this is the same playbook as 2020!

We can recognize the lies. “There were many forces at play that caused progressive movements to shrink or become less visible since 2020. Many of these forces tend to be in the interest of upholding the status quo. Using economic, cultural, and political means to strengthen the structures of white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.”

@QasimRashid Try doing a reverse protest. Instead of taking to the streets, stay at home. Shut everything down.

If nobody is there, nobody can be hurt or killed.

Trump then has no excuse to use the National Guard and Hesgeth has to crawl back into his hole.

If enough people can be brought into a mass general strike, then it would work and have much more effect than any attempt at violence would.

The hard part would be actually getting enough people to participate, but once a sizable number of people gather to participate, then things will go relatively smoothly.

@jmc @QasimRashid

@Radical_EgoCom @jmc @QasimRashid We'd also have to take into consideration the capacity of a population to support dual power and rely upon spontaneous organization and distribution networks to support themselves during a general strike.
@jmc I like that. I like protests with no sound, I like staying home, I like silent crowds gaining control over the marketing and communication channels. A wall of silence.

@QasimRashid Saying out loud what I'm thinking...

I think this whole situation stinks of manipulation. Trump is using this as an opportunity. Protests turn to riots, Army deployed, tension escalates until someone gets an itchy trigger finger. Massacre ensues. Cue Trump invoking Insurrection Act and ordering martial law...

@radiofreeme Trump also knows that the mainstream media will just follow along with what he says.
@radiofreeme @QasimRashid I'd put my money on this prediction
@hosford42 @radiofreeme @QasimRashid
Except I don't think that he's that smart. He's top clown, not ringmaster.
@murdoc @radiofreeme @QasimRashid He likes to pick fights like any bully. Doesn't have to be smart; it's instinct

@QasimRashid we are beyond peaceful protest. When the powers that be come with real force, turning the other cheek doesn't work.

MLK knew the likely outcome. It was the riots that actually got things to happen.

@QasimRashid if only there was a show in the current zeitgeist that was a facsimile of what's happening in LA
@QasimRashid Trumps Reichtagsbrand.
