When I was a boy you would spend a lot of time trying to call the local radio station. Once or twice in a lifetime the DJ would answer then play the song you requested.

There is nothing even remotely similar to that thrill now.

@CartyBoston My little '80s boyfriend and I once sweet-talked our way into the booth of a local radio station -- we brought in a pizza and shared it with the DJ.

Even if there WERE local radio stations now, in a post-9/11 world we would never get past the front desk.

There's still #CommunityRadio, where there are DJs who take requests, and where they go out of their way to play new music by local musicians, and where they'll play not only the single, and not just an obscure track from the album, but they'll play the whole album!

And #CommunityRadio is always looking for volunteers to DJ in an unfilled timeslot, so *you* can play that entire album.

If you want to get in the DJ booth, volunteer at your local #CommunityRadio station!

Love the sentiment, but still according to FCC rules, we *can't* play full albums on Community radio stations or anywhere else for that matter.

Really? I wonder why. There's no such restriction by the CRTC in Canada. Some campus stations have restrictions on the amount of popular music they can play, and our #CommunityRadio station can play at most 80% "Rock, Pop, and Dance" from the "Popular" music category (at least 20% has to be "Country", "Acoustic", or "Easy Listening", the other sub-categories). But no restriction on playing full albums.
