Dr. Demento Presents: The Greatest Novelty Records Of All Time (Volume III - The 1960s)
1985 U.S. pressing

Some late night chuckles for last spin of the night.

All the hilarious usual suspects of the novelty realm are here; Tiny Tim, Bryan Hyland, Napoleon XIV, The Trashmen, and my personal favorite, Ray Stevens’ sublimely absurd ā€œGuitarzanā€!

I believe Dr. Demento did God’s work, and was a king among men. Someone needs to make a legit biopic on him NOT starring Rainn Wilson.

@TheVinylApe ā€œGuitarzanā€ is a song I remember well from the 40 Funky Hits compilation I listened to as a pre-teen. iirc, ā€œSurfin Birdā€, ā€œAlley Oopā€, & ā€œMr. Custerā€ were on that comp. as well.

@TheVinylApe As a child I would put this radio under my pillow and slyly listen to Dr. Demento way, way past my bedtime.

I swear he got me into punk, both because he occasionally played it, and because I learned that music had breadths mainstream radio didn't touch. Long live the Doctor!
