Spotted in Mexico: A food cart made from the cage of a Sun Enterprise 10000 Server

I bet the support contract on those tacos is insane.
@wohali selling my taco business to oracle! hope nothing bad happens :)
upcycling at its best! 👍🏻
@wohali got to give credit where credit is due. They managed to recycle it into something useful again, which is pretty cool.

@wohali

I guess "the streets find its own use for things"

@wohali @leyrer is that one of 6 billion devices running java?
@wohali A friend of mine had an end table that was just a big Sun tower, I forget the vintage. Worked great.
@kevinriggle @wohali I have a couple of old PC towers that make great little bedside tables 🙂
@wohali Good thing it's not made from an old quantum computer - otherwise you would and wouldn't get diarrhea at the same time ☝️🥸
@wohali hint: it's not just the cage. The heat from the CPUs cooks the food...
@bcantrill I feel like you need to see this.
@prehnra I was wondering if @bcantrill will be thrilled or heartbroken to see this. Reminded of his story of the E10k that was routing packets instead of running a benchmark. Went off to find the video on YouTube (to share here) and got lost in the rabbit hole X)
@wohali I’m delighted to see a SunFire still in use
@wohali The taquero knows no limitations.
@wohali Mexican surrealism has no limits.
@wohali Now that is called upcycling or downcycling?
@wohali nature is reclaiming the abandoned landscape
@wohali Would that be up- or downcycling?
@wohali they should have done that with the one that got dropped in a data centre move where I used to work! What do you think @leoncowle ?

@wohali sorry to spoil the fun, but that is not an E10k or E15k. That's a late standard 44U cabinet.

Source: me, who has worked on and seen literally hundreds of them. And E10k and E15k's.

@rootwyrm @wohali
I don't think it's spoiling the fun to be pedantic about the model name. XD I thought you were about to say "that's not at all a server, it just looks like one".
@Paradox @wohali look, when you had a fleet of the self-destructing v880's and had to deal with v1280's and T2000's, you get to know EXACTLY which rack is ALWAYS THE FUCKING PROBLEM. (And STILL IS.)
@Paradox @wohali also, that is CLEARLY a server. It's not a buffet!
@rootwyrm I almost commented on this. XD
@wohali @bryan The network is the tortilla.
@wohali and on the pedestal these words remain: "I am Sun Microsystems..."

@wohali appropriate for #suntember submission 😁

Edit: how can I get this as our food trucks on every corner???

@wohali I remember in Uni we converted an SGI half height server that we rescued from a dumpster on campus. Pulled out all its guts and fit a (also reclaimed) dorm mini-fridge in it for our “beer fridge” in our tv/game room in our place off campus.
@wohali This picture's in the 9front book too
