Welcome to the #GES4SEAS #MOOC on Tipping Points #TIPP
Well, what is a Tipping Point?
It is a point after which an ecosystem suddenly shifts from one state to another, Going back to the original state is difficult: SOMETIMES IMPOSSIBLE.
See the thread for more details👇
To understand this, we need to understand how humans impact marine ecosystems. In the previous MOOC, you have learned that WE need the ocean but our activities IMPACT the ocean
#CumulativeEffects #health
Human activities translate to pressures on marine systems. Some pressures can be strong (e.g., heavy commercial fishing), others weak (e.g., from recreational fishing). However, their impacts can accumulate. Think of all the activities we do and how they can impact oceans.

Here is a recap of cumulative pressures. Next, we will see how #CumulativeEffects can cause tipping points.
