This is the usual view of #ExeterCathedral, which is nearing 1000 years in age. It holds the record that its #nave has the longest uninterrupted gothic vaulting in the world. Being in the middle of the city, just off the high street, it’s really easy to get to on foot or by #bike.

I’d set out to find a door on the cathedral which reportedly has the oldest cat door ever but sadly, it must be on the side which is inaccessible to the public from the outside.
The nearest thing I could find was this one in an adjacent building. I don’t have any way of checking how genuinely old this one is.
It's in the north transept. Here it is on the inside, resplendent with inappropriately placed fire extinguishers. This is an oldish photo (2018). These days it has a stuffed cat in the cat flap but the fire extinguishers are still there.
Oh that's a shame. As a bit of a local, I must have seen it on the outside but darned if I've noticed it. Perhaps it's not so obvious.
