Khurram Wadee ✅I just got back from a contemporary #ballet performance of the #RockOpera #Quadrophenia, which was originally written by #PeteTownshend of #TheWho. It was performed at the #TheatreRoyalPlymouth and I have to say it was wonderful. The music is an #instrumental retelling of the original album and follows it almost exactly, with a few extras thrown in for good measure.
The #dance performances are excellent: energetic and apt for the mood being portrayed and the young performers are extremely well choreographed. Looking round the audience, it was mostly people like me in their 50s and older (perhaps because it was a matinee performance). The cast got a well-deserved standing ovation at the end.
The ballet will be visiting many #UK cities, including #London, #Southampton and #Salford.
Today was part of our push not to use motorized private transport and so we #cycled to and from the #RailwayStation and took a train to #Plymouth and back. The #theatre's walking distance from the station.
I was surprised more people hadn't dressed for the occasion. I wore trousers, as opposed to jeans or shorts and had a jacket and tie on with leather shoes. I can confidently say I was dressed up better than anyone within a mile.
