The new Harry Potter show is upon us, and while there's debate as to how much JK Rowling is involved in the running of the show, the fact remains: it's her IP. It makes money, she makes money.

If you watch it, if you buy HP merch, if you visit the HP park attractions, if you make others curious to watch it, etc., you are funding this TERF's persecution of trans people.

So, don't.

J.K. Rowling uses personal wealth to fund anti-trans org

This is where "Harry Potter" profits are going.

What should I feel about my granddaughters applying to be extras in the school scenes?

@pthane Given you have grandkids, you probably know how you feel and why about most anything.

In the off chance this is a good faith question, here's my answer:

A good friend doesn't let a friend date a Nazi; a good grandparent doesn't let their grandchildren go into supporting a TERF uninformed. Whatever happens after they know, it's their decision.

Older one is 14 and might understand the issues. The younger (9) not so much. But even at my age it's not simple. There's a long history of unpleasant people making great art, or even mediocre movies. There's a lot of heat and not much understanding on all sides of sex/gender issues. Rowling has her opinion and a right to campaign for it. I don't agree, I guess you don't either and we have a right to protest but Rowling is the wrong
target. The recent court decision was about clarifying what parliament intended when it passed the law. Those who feel it's wrong need to campaign to change the law. Attacking those who support the law as it stands isn't going to change anything. And do we really want to stop kids having a blast on a film set?

So not a good faith question, then.
@justanotheramy
We'll yes it was really. Is my view as expressed above acceptable or as they say on some forums, AITA? Life is baffling at times.

It’s only a good faith question if you haven’t already predetermined the answer you’re willing to accept.
At your big age you should know that.
Your essay in response to the answer you solicited showed that to very much not be the case.
@herhandsmyhands @pthane
Presumabably your grandchildren have parents who are old enough to understand the issue, and who are capable of understanding that responsible parenting means you don’t always get to be the fun mum/dad.
Parenting includes helping our young people become ethical and engaged members of society, and that sometimes means putting the rights of others above self gratification.
This is basic stuff — or it is if our own parents did it 🤨
