Letter to a #Senator / 29 May :: Mr. #Tillis_ I was pleased by the #USCourt of #InternationalTrade’s unanimous 3-judge #ruling that #Trump’s tariffs were #unconstitutional. 1/8
The composition of the judges being weighted in the #POTUSINO’s favor politically did not seem to help and a light was shone upon the ongoing unconstitutional actions of the #Executive. 2/8
It casts into relief (yet, again) how the #Congress sits on its hands regarding the proper distribution of power between the #branches. 3/8
I continue to write you --and choose to focus on this one aspect of my concerns with this #Administration-- because I believe that, regardless of *how* we as #citizens wish to disagree on *what* should be done, that we are all playing fairly by the rules. 4/8
Speaking of playing by rules, explain for me please #Section 70302 of the #BudgetReconciliation #Bill --that reads like an outrighting capitulation by #Congress to the Project 2025 totalitarian agenda-- that allows court-ordered contempt orders to be ignored? 5/8
Do you intend to #vote for this, #Senator? Do you intend to #vote to take power away from the #Courts and, through inaction, consolidate more with the #Executive? 6/8
I know you cannot go to #Washington and not get your hands dirty, sir. But this tiny aspect of the bill confirms just how much #sewage the #GOP truly enjoys #wallowing in. I register my objection to the whole bill over this one Section alone. 7/8
And I will spare you my thoughts on other aspects for now since policing my #Senator was not something ever dreamed of doing when training to be a professional architect. I’ve got client’s who need my help, a family to feed and children who need to have honorable behavior modeled for them. 8/8
