Our EU-funded project BIG-5, hosted at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the UAB, investigates how social media platforms shape environmental values.
We requested data from X (formerly Twitter) under Article 40(12) of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), a framework meant to enable research on systemic risks.
❌ Our request was denied.
This isn’t just a bureaucratic delay, it actively blocks public-interest science.
✅ Meta, TikTok, and YouTube have already granted access.
❌ X’s refusal undermines cross-platform accountability and the DSA’s promise.
We’re sharing this to raise awareness and invite dialogue.
