@broadwaybabyto When this started and someone told me about it, I asked if the woman in question was black. I was thoroughly unsurprised to hear she is. This is a continuation of a pattern that the US has been displaying for a long time, the callous lack of disregard for black women's rights to control over their own bodies is one of the main driving forces behind the US campaign against bodily autonomy. A vestige of chattel slavery culture, showing it's very much still alive in the modern day.

It’s awful, and the fact that she was a healthcare worker still couldn’t access the care she needed makes it feel so much worse

Your list makes chore-sharing do-able, but men have to be able to choose to be more involved at home. @JoBlakely Asia in general is a perfect example. Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and China have even lower birthrates than the West, despite having: conservative cultures, strong belief in families, 'pro-natal attitudes', government subsidies for giving birth, and strong attitudes against abortion.

So obviously those things aren't the key. The thing they share with us are economic policies and terrible wage/housing price ratios. But try getting anyone in a suit to see the elephant in the room.
