There should be laws against services that require you to email customer support in order to delete your account.
@zak This was announced in October 2024. The recent headlines I’ve skimmed sound like this rule will go into effect soon. I would expect it to get rescinded some time in the next four years though. https://www.npr.org/2024/10/16/nx-s1-5154814/click-to-cancel-subscriptions-memberships-ftc-rule
“The Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday released a final rule called "click to cancel," which says online subscriptions should require the same number of clicks to end as they do to sign up, and in-person signups should have an option to cancel online or over the phone.”

@j4ck Yeah, this may or may not be dead already.

Allowing customers to cancel is a burden & may kill you - THIS FTC SUCKS

@zak @j4ck FYI: Rossmann is fash.
@dalias @j4ck I don't keep up with his personal life tbh. I don't intend to be his friend.
@zak @j4ck I bring it up because a lot of folks don't know, and it should be mentioned whenever citing him so as not to just build his legitimacy.
@zak @j4ck If anyone needs receipts for Rossmann being fash, the most obvious, public one is his inviting Moldbug (literal Stormfront level nazi, before being a nazi was even socially acceptable for these folks) on his show.
@dalias what's the context of the video bc simply having someone on isn't necessarily indicative of their agreeing with those views. not that im a rossmann fan but this just felt like a weird insertion to make in this particular instance

@etsyy I can't believe you even find that relevant. You do not platform explicit literal nazis whose whole claim to fame is being a very public nazi unless you want to advance their reach.

There are a lot more receipts too, just less public. But the idea that this obvious public one is somehow questionable is just... WTF?

@dalias I'd never seen the video nor anything else in regards to this, hence my question.
@etsyy My whole point is that you don't have to see the video. It's not rocket science that you don't platform a nazi unless you agree with them.
@dalias if the Nazi has more motion than he does and he's directly refuting their talking points (not saying he did, I couldn't even find the video) then it's not really platforming, although I would consider it a waste of time. my point is that expecting others to entirely dismiss someone without being able to observe the evidence themself is silly. but I digress
@etsyy You don't invite nazis to debate them and refute their talking points. That is a net win for them. YOU DON'T INVITE NAZIS. There is absolutely no need to see any evidence beyond "he invited a nazi". That's it. Case closed.
