Most are/were not tragedies.
The problem with you, RFK, and your supporters, is lack of understanding. Sure, some people on the spectrum are tragedies, just like some neurotypical people are tragedies. But if you only look at the tragedies, you're misinformed and doing huge harm, both to millions of people as well as to our society and our country.

@mwl I've never been diagnosed, but I'm sure I'm on the spectrum somewhere. I know for sure that I'm deeply different from other people. Except those I consider to be "my people". I find them at Defcon, at SF cons, and among my peers in engineering, and occasionally at gelato shops. What neurotypicals (aka "mundandes") never understand, and are probably incapable of understanding, is that every single breakthrough in human history is due to someone on the spectrum.
