Am utterly entranced by my first tech device I am literally playing with. There are features I didn’t expect that are quite pleasant. Got a new Apple iPad 11 on the Memorial Day sale—$299 +Apple Care 2 years $368. It had been years, maybe 9, since I touched an iPad as part of my job then. The works inside this one are like an iPhone 15. Didn’t expect the camera and magnifier to be so good. Didn’t know the graphics scale up great from what I am used to on an iPhone. And yes, I am playing Clockmaker on the new big screen with a new appreciation of the artistry in it. Photo is using the quick magnifier view on my desktop system, foreground shows mouse mat/playmat with the Michael Whelan art. Keypad and set of 4 fave Flesh and Blood cards, Last Ditch Effort. That magnifier has a built in camera—very nice. @MichaelWhelan #ipad #Whelan #FAB #Fantasy #FantasyArt
I mentioned playing —here’s the multi-device Bluetooth keyboard with both iPad and iPhone 14 Pro max standing up on the back keyboard ledge. If you have a narrow depth case you can still use this keyboard. Hands off between each device by tapping 1 button. Now I can see and reply to Mastodon posts very easy with the keyboard. Keyboard $64. Cases were about $9 each. 😊
@cobalt123 @MichaelWhelan I've always been a bit meh about Apple desktop computers, but I bought an iPad for my father when he was very old and ill - it was almost the only tablet I could find at the time that did broadband via mobile phone SIM. It's a fantastic piece of kit, and I've still got it 5 years later. A new iPad for $299 looks like an astounding bargain - especially without the "AI"! 😁
@FaithfullJohn I specifically was sold on this because latest technology for consumer level except for no Apple Intelligence! And I woukd recommend this in a heartbeat for many people who have vision impairment, dexterity issues or cognitive challenges. 4 speakers not 2 is great. I read a great tech review from a pro who uses his high end pro devices and he’s now using this tablet much more of each day because the power is enough and battery life great. This is one I’d buy for seniors, definitely.
