@jaystephens if we can agree that said disaster capitalism also has led to people preferring to no longer acquire skills themselves and constantly look for shortcuts rather than learning, and thus flock to these slop machines as they allow for fast "results" that look right without any meaningful effort, then yes, sure.
The rampant deskilling going on right now is going to cause major problems for decades to come, even after we've rid ourselves of all the slop (assuming that's possible).
@foosel
For sure.
They're strip mining both future skills and past knowledge for short term profit.
Rather than rid ourselves of the slop the most likely future is to be constantly surrounded by it like advertising surround us now
😭😭😭
@foosel To me the problem is that people are using it as a *substitute for* work/contribution.
Used for brainstorming, LLM's're brilliant.
There's even a buddhist one, which knows the established-teachings whereas I've only experience-induced-understanding,
& it is the *intersection between the 2* that is the greatest-leverage,
so I find it to be good leverage, for me, when I bother trying the thing..
Mind you, I'm entirely capable of calling "traditional"/established teachings outright-wrong, when they contradict the actual-experiencing, but tradition-ists won't tolerate that to be true, obviously ( so, they have already declared me to be nonvalid/defective in buddhism/awake-soul-ism )

Consider this:
Young people who are brought-up, educated, then put into a job-desert..
they join an MLM?
they try using LLM's to fake significance & be paid "influencers"?
the MLM one was from last-century, wasn't it?
It's still as dishonest as it was back then.
The problem isn't that LLM's exist, it is that they're being used to *displace* meaning, including meaningful contribution/work,
& that problem was already a problem last-century.
All the fake civilization we've made that the next-generation ( yours, your children's, etc, not mine ) are imprisonned-in, the responsibility is on all of us, us who *accommodated* the fakening of our world..
Is the ripping-out of nature to put-in saleable-appearances "less" fake?
Is replacing Nature with McMansions somehow "less" fake?
Ask the working-class if making them redundant with robots, & just giving *their entire class* the economic-middle-finger is somehow "honest"..
Is suburbia authentic?
We're *noticing* some kinds, but not others, is 1 thing this is getting-at, is all..
& what we've habitually been ignoring, for a century, at-least, is that mass-illusions are *not* valid substitute for honest-world-for-children-to-be-growing-up-in..
---
Sorry, but the "AI/LLM is just the modern equivalent to MLM's" thing is something that more need to be understanding.. which is what promted me to bother you with a reply..
Incorrect-values-systems rigged into world-controlling-leverage isn't a "new" problem..
Political-rule has been doing that since before Socrates, & he's even older than me!
