I do too, although I rarely keep a browser window open, except at work, when I'm (supposedly) working. XD

@tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo @amin

I feel attacked. XD

Let's just say it's a constant struggle.

My best productivity was probably for the first two weeks on my first #ADHD medication, and then it went back to normal, no matter how many meds I tried.

So, now I'm off all of the adhd, depression, and anxiety meds. I kinda used them to get a feel for what it was like for my brain to function normally, and I just do my best to maintain THAT.

Also, I keep harping on this like a freaking #INFLUENCER, but #YerbaMate has been the very best long-term ADHD remedy I've found so far. Very stable and strong uplift. Regular tea is like riding an escalator, coffee is like a rocket that explodes half the time, mate is like a 737.
Just perfect.

@rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

It could just as much be the ritual as the actual actual caffeine or other qualities. I find rituals to be very strong factors in my own ability to focus.

@amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

No, not at all. Absolutely not a ritual, and the fact that I'm literally quoting the spice guy from Dune when preparing it doesn't mean anything at all. 🤣

Yeah. It's very ritualistic. Kind of like smoking a pipe, but it's a drink.

@tripplehelix @amin @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Have you done both?

The mate + bombilla combo is very pipe-like.
The yerba itself is vaguely similar to flavored pipe tobacco, if... lol... grass were a flavor. XD

@amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Dude, Jelly Belly flavors are just WRONG.

And no, I haven't had that one. I've had popcorn, though, which is awful in that it's actually enjoyable. XD

Regular black licorice is still the worst flavor. :P

@rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

That's one of their "beanboozled" flavors, though; the idea is they make identical-looking jelly beans with bad flavors, then mix theme with the regular ones. A kind of russian roulette, I guess.

I liked the black licorice ones, those were my favorites.

@amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Interesting. I've not met any Americans my age or younger that liked licorice flavor.
Only my stepdad's age and older.

@rl_dane @amin @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo We grow up with it in the UK, we have loads of sweets using the flavour. However, I was among very few that liked it.

@tripplehelix @amin @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Not too surprised, my general impression is that tastes in the UK are somewhere between US and the rest of Europe.

...US tastes being heavily skewed towards sweetness.

P.S., mainly talking about desserts. Tastes regarding other things are extremely varied in the US, and I know for sure Brits can't handle spice like we do. Particularly in #Texas. XD

@rl_dane @amin @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo Most people in England just like bland crap. My taste buds are definitely not from here.

Isn't the joke about the UK that y'all colonized the entire earth for its spices, and then refused to actually USE any? XD

@rl_dane @amin @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo Mostly tea which we had a big accident with, and made our seas taste like tea. I think we mostly just traded spices.

@sotolf @tripplehelix @rl_dane @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Spices are specifically plant substances, so no.

In the culinary arts, a spice is any seed, fruit, root, bark, or other plant substance in a form primarily used for flavoring or coloring food. Spices are distinguished from herbs, which are the leaves, flowers, or stems of plants used for flavoring or as a garnish.

@sotolf @rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Oh, gross. :(

By the way, I've acquired cumin from my home province in Afghanistan and I cannot wait to cook with it. It's very distinctive in smell (and presumably taste) from typical cumin, in a good way.

Cumin and cardamom are the two spices where the spell is instantly nostalgic for me, more dramatically so than pretty much anything else.

@amin @rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo Cardamom is used a lot in sweet buns in norway, and it's my one connotation to that thing, so I drank some tea that had it in it, and was instantly confused, and then had good memories of sweet buns, and times that I had eaten them :p

@amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Now I want a cinnamon twizzler (or something similar, not just that one brand which is mediocre at best). That would be insane.

@rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

I've had cinnamon licorice and it was glorious. Much thicker and fatter than a twizzler, though.

@amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Twizzlers are honestly pretty meh. They're just the most well-known here. They don't have much flavor.

@rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Agreed. If I have a choice between 'murican candies, though, I usually will request it as one of them.

Twizzlers, Reese's (pieces or cups), and Hot Tamales. Used to love red hots but haven't had them in a while.

@amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

ooo, red hots are the little jelly bean-kinda-like things, right? No wait, more like Mike & Ike's, but cinnamon? Those are awesome.

@rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

You're thinking of Hot Tamales, and yes they're made by the same company as Mike and Ike's.

Red hots are made by the same company as Nerds. And their website is giving me a 403 but maybe it'll let you through: https://www.ferraracandyshopusa.com/brands/red-hots

Redhots

These candies hit you from your nose to your toes. In the early 1930's, the Ferrara Pan Candy Company created the famous Red Hot using the same cold panned candy method used today. Whether you eat them by the handful, put them on birthday cakes or use them as a decorative touch to your gingerbread house, there are a million fiery ways to spice up your life.

@rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @sotolf @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

I think I prefer the hot tamales, they don't get stuck in my teeth as easily. And the spice helps self-regulate the speed I eat theme at. ;)

@sotolf @amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

They don't taste like vomit to me (because I grew up on them), but they do taste like tasteless sweetness and a burning in the throat.

American chocolate has a different process than European. I don't remember the deets, but you can find it on YT.

But generally not great quality and too sweet, anyway.

@rl_dane @sotolf @amin @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo Most American food is of a much lower standard than the EU. UK's food standards have slowly been dipping.

@sotolf @rl_dane @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Twizzlers aren't actually very sweet, at least in comparison to the other American candies.

But yeah, in general American sweets aren't great, imo.

@amin @sotolf @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

I'm trying to think of american sweets I actually like...

Sour punch straws are pretty good, but also very intense in flavor. Same goes for Atomic Warheads. Or were they called Atomic Fireballs? That's it. I'm conflating them with Warheads, the super-sour candies, which are NOT enjoyable, except if you're able to make it through the sour part, and the inner candy is actually kinda nice.

I really like jolly ranchers, and the sugar-free kind are still pretty good.

Twinkies and Moon Pies I rank under "I like them because I liked them, not because they're actually good." Moon Pies are better than Twinkies, though.

I love Oreos and think they should be a controlled substance. Kinda seriously.

Turtles are amazing. They're chocolate-covered caramel nut clusters.

The chocolate-covered Reeses' pretzel bar thingies are pretty good, but too sweet.

Kit Kat are pretty good, but not great. Same goes for Keebler wafer bars. I just love the wafer texture. One of my favorite Persian treats is ice cream sandwiches made of Persian-style saffron and pistachio ice cream and plain wafers.

Baby Ruth is probably my favorite chocolate. Very complex texture, and the chocolate itself is not too bad. For those who haven't seen them, it's a peanut-encrusted caramel bar dipped in chocolate. Very sweet, but still quite nice.

I think that's about it. I have yet to try Mallomars, as they have to be shipped in while it's cold outside.

Oh, and Nerds. I love nerds. Again, that's one of those things I had as a kid that has nostalgic value more than out-right flavor value.

@rl_dane @amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo I seriously don't know what 90% of that stuff is :p I know kit-kat which is basically just a bad knock-off of kvikk-lunsj, with lower quality chocolate, and Oreos, wich is basically just sugar :p

@sotolf @amin @tripplehelix @alatartheblue @kudzu @dmoonfire @thedoctor @krafter @clayton @roguefoam @fbievan @orbitalmartian @joel @dm @btp @adamsdesk @jlw_the_jobber @gorkmo

Dude, oreos are amazing. The sweetness, chocolate-like-ness (not actually chocolate, nobody knows what it is), and the crisp texture (especially the thins) are just addictive as heck.
