Today we went to #Tintagel, which is on the #NorthernCoast of #Cornwall. It is supposed to be the place where #KingArthur was conceived. The veracity of that claim is highly dubious but the rugged beauty of the coast is beyond question. It’s not too difficult to get to, being just over an hour’s drive away. Today’s walk totalled about 12 km.

#CoastalWalks are easy as there’s virtually no need to navigate, but I still do like to have my #OrdnanceSurvey #map with me. This first #promontory, slightly to the east of #Tintagel is called #WillaPark.

The #headland juts out into the #sea and its rocks are very angular and the #cliff forms an almost sheer drop of several tens of metres.

Looking south from the #Promontory, we see the #countryside of #Cornwall. Unfortunately, the visibility was not as good as it could be but cooler weather is better for hiking.

There were some interesting formations of rock along the walk. Here is an almost perfect square cut out of the cliff, which suggests it might be artificial, though I don’t know for sure.

The #bay is called #TintagelHaven and the two #footbridges form a #path toe #TintagelCastle. I’ll post separately with #photographs of our little visit to small #beach there.
