Antenna project and maintenance day. Windom 80-10m (with 30m and 15m wires) is going to my cottage station for replacing faulty G5RV.
HFKit 80m-10m 49:1 EFHW antenna will get a new wire and also added place for using radial wire with it. Smaller one have it also.
Also new cables for my 50Ah battery, should be more robust now.
Trying to figure out how to make aprs station which is easy to maintain and simple.
@OG3E I have run two versions of an APRS read-only iGate using a Raspberry Pi and an SDR dongle. The current version with an RPi5 has been very reliable and low-maintenance, which I appreciate.
@croyle i am planning my location sharing. I have a LoRa which could be ok but unfortunately my location is just a bit too far from nearest rx iGate.
Problem is also a power, which is turned off from my small shed when its not used. And can not install much there unfortunately.
So not much options😅
@OG3E Battery that can recharge when the power is on, supplemented by solar maybe? One of the nice things about a Raspberry Pi is that they don't use a lot of power... I run mine from inside my house so no power issue, and the antenna is a mobile antenna attached to a mag mount, stuck to a vent on my roof. It's a very simple setup.
@croyle i have a small solarpanel, have to check what would be the spot where i get most of sunny time. Lots of trees around so quite a lot shadows
