So, it's a really bad idea to send Bluesky a picture of your official government ID!

Folks, while on the subject of #Bluesky privacy practices (https://mastodon.online/@mastodonmigration/114559301810012438), it is entirely up to you, but if you get locked out of your Bluesky account and they ask you to send an image of your passport, highly recommend that you don't do it.

@mastodonmigration They also are using Google Forms as their verification vehicle and linking the account via recording it.

"The name, email, and photo associated with your Google account will be recorded when you upload files and submit this form"

@paul @batist3

Edit: So not clear they are asking for a government ID in the form. Did you go through the form? What info do they request?

Original post: Didn't realize they asked for a government ID photo in their 'notable' blue check account Google Form...

@paul
I remember when Google+ required users to use their real names and required proof of such, but got so much pushback from people who had legitimate reasons for using other non-legal identifying names, that they removed that requirement.

@juliewebgirl off-topic,, Paul sad now from old memory. I miss the connections I made on Google+, esp during the first 6 or 9 months. A few I connected with on Twitter and now, 4 or 5, on the Fediverse.

I loved it at first until they started merging the products, and breaking them away, and changing the UI with more Material Design elements.

They kept changing it and making it worse. It could have been a good thing.

Better off anyway, since they decided "Do no evil" wasn't in their investors best interests. Wished they would make G+ opensource.

@paul
I'm sorry. You bring up more memories of it now though and I think it was Google Circles wasn't it? Before Google+? I felt I was the only one who thought Circles had great potential except the real name thing but people fought out because it wasn't like FB. Kinda like how Twitter users come here and complain it isn't Twitter. New platforms are hard and moving friendships across to other platforms is weird because it changes the energy dynamic. *SIGH*
@mastodonmigration @batist3

@juliewebgirl Memories are good, even when they are "awe."

I think Google Circles was introduced in G+. Before G+ there was Google Buzz, which was built primarily in GMAIL.

Remember Google Buzz?

Buzz replaced Google Wave which Apache took over as Apache Wave.

@mastodonmigration @batist3

@paul
Oh yeah. Such a weird concept writing an email and that person coincidentally messages you in the same app. Lol At least each of those were different things. I love when they have a business tool with a consistent naming structure like GSuite and randomly change the name to something unmemorable like Google Workspace.
@mastodonmigration @batist3
@juliewebgirl True True. Google Chat became Google Hangouts and now it's Google Voice @mastodonmigration @batist3
@mastodonmigration @batist3 Good grief. Makes me want to work for Bluesky. No doubt some good Robin Hood opportunities there!

@mastodonmigration @batist3

@mastodonmigration @batist3 Are you still able to migrate your account to another PDS if your account gets locked?
@mastodonmigration @batist3 Don't trust any communication containing the word "kindly."

@mastodonmigration @batist3

This is becoming common, with US based Tech firms.

I commented on an earlier post, LinkedIn are also.

Now Square Space claim my Gmail account used since my domains were hosted with them is not valid.

Google sold its domain business to Square Space, accounts have been migrated. Now Square Space is asking for more infor.

Seems Square Space outsources its "customer service" off shore as the level of understanding at the other end is minimum.
