youtube algorithm like

"ah I see you have an interest in [literally anything]. I bet you'd like to see some completely unhinged right wing shit.'

I guess it doesn't help that for any topic you can think of to watch a youtube video about there are at least half a dozen guys endlessly churning out videos about how that thing is "woke" now.

@waitworry
YouTube: Now you've learnt how to replace that part on your car, let's discuss how Hitler had some good points, shall we?

I mean it was for a Volkswagen but still.. what's YouTube's obsession?

@waitworry YouTube, spinning a chair around and sitting in it backwards: you know who else really likes building miniatures? alllll these right wing preppers
@infernusgoatus @waitworry I'm getting that on Tiktok because of looking into Ham Radio stuff there

@waitworry I think I am an outlier, but I almost entirely interact with YouTube via the subscription tab. I find new creators infrequently this way, but the content I consume is curated only to things I have intentionally sought out.

For a long time I assumed this was the typical way everyone used it, but I no longer believe that.

@HeckinChonker I mean I have a browser extension that hides the recommendations anyway

it is just sometimes you do end up seeing the recommendations and they are always god awful
