Requested SMS/RCS app feature: Delete all the old 2FA verification code messages from history. No confirmation, just do it. Even better, just do it automatically every day for everything older than 24hrs.
@timbray
That is indeed a feature in Google Messages! It's in the settings section "message organization."
@ianrbuck Not on my Pixel it seems ☹️
@ianrbuck @timbray I wonder if this is US-only or something? I'm on a Pixel 7 and don't see the option.
@Binks
Oh, it's possible that this is a feature they only did on the Pro, for BS AI reasons or something.

How to auto delete OTP messages on Android

Are all your two-factor authentication codes cluttering your inbox? Let's show you how to auto delete OTP messages on Android.

Android Authority
@ianrbuck @timbray thanks! didn't know that was there; found and turned it on after reading this.

@ianrbuck @timbray Hmm, I've installed latest version update but still have no "Message organization" section in my Messages settings

googling around it seems possibly the update went the other way and removed this feature over a year ago?

Message organization option missing - Google Messages Community

@timbray That is a good one. My RCS request is no RCS with someone not in my favorites. That way scam/spam numbers do not get to see that I have looked at their message.

@timbray This would be super welcome.

iOS will automatically delete single messages/emails when it uses them to auto-fill a prompt but all the rest of them get left alone.

@timbray Why would this be useful? Any 2FA code that still has any validity after 24h (or even less) looks like a broken server implementation to me.

Are you thinking defence in depth (extra layer) here, or just looking to unclutter your SMS history?

@timbray Right, then it makes total sense :-)
@timbray iOS/macOS do this pretty well. A verification SMS results in being prompted to paste it into the current field in Safari on macOS or iOS; if you do that, it's immediately deleted from your SMS messages.
So much this. Bonus points for appointment reminders where the date is say > 1 week in the past.
