Probably time to bring up the reconstruction of atmospheric COâ‚‚ levels for the past 65 million years (before 1950). Of note is that the Greenland ice sheets didn't form until the COâ‚‚ levels dropped below 350 ppm. This implies that Greenland will completely melt until we get levels back down (we are currently above 420 ppm and rising). Similarly, the Antarctic ice sheet formed when COâ‚‚ levels dropped below 450 ppm, which we will hit before 2035 if we do not make significant changes in our emissions.

If all of Greenland melted, it would raise sea levels by about 20 feet (6 m). However, this takes a lot of time, and at the current melt rate we should expect 10 inches (26 cm) by the year 2100. This may not seem like much, but with worsening tropical storms the added water will increase inland devastation.
