  • Cuz it's one thing to draw attention for a #VictimlessCrime but having an actual body count escalates things very quickly, cuz then it's not a "narcotics" but a "murder" division taking on the cases!

OFC, this is due to the #OpioidCrisis started with #Oxycontin / #Oxycodon and #criminalization isn't helping anyone.

@kkarhan Also the taboo on opiates that used to exist to some extent amongst partydrugs users (ravers) diminished over the years (even in the 90s there was a gateway to the harder stuff), so the partydrugs and hard drugs dealing networks have merged (especially at the top) and fentanyl is finding its way into partydrugs by accident (a lad was killed at a festival last year in Britain due to this)

@vfrmedia which again is the problem with #criminalization, because #OrganizeCrime doesn't do #QualityControl to the standards of #OTC or #prescription #drugs.

I've yet to hear of #Fentanyl contamination or forged #NSAID|s in circulation.

@kkarhan what usually happens here is simple and avoidable mistakes caused by drug-bros (young men who are often getting high on their own supply and also enjoy the whole "hustle" aspect of dealing) confusing poorly labelled stashes of powders (of course not having to hide everything could reduce this risk).

@kkarhan Even fentanyl is on the approved formulary for UK but in carefully measured doses, usually as patches (I worked on the maintenance team in a senior home and in every nurse base was a big poster from the NHS with details of all the opiates and correct dosage plus warnings about the stronger ones)
