What are your favorite non-caffeinated hot drinks? While I’m ok with limiting caffeine intake, I still miss having more hot drinks throughout the day. These days I’m really into vanilla rooibos with a splash of milk and sometimes honey. #tea #coffee #caffeine #hotdrinks #roiboos
@xenodium I'm hooked on white tea, which has very very little caffeine
@sanityinc @xenodium Ever tried grain coffee?
@meedstrom @sanityinc oh this one is new to me too! Any favorite?
@xenodium @meedstrom @sanityinc A mix of barley, rye and chicory tastes pretty good to me.
@tagomago @meedstrom @sanityinc All new to me. Thank you!
@xenodium @meedstrom @sanityinc I’ve read about “Barley Cup” maybe?, in the UK (if that’s near you). Here we got similar brands too, but it’s all pretty basic ingredients. I like rooibos too, btw! It’s my go-to choice after meals out, followed by green tea.
@tagomago @xenodium @sanityinc A drop of mint essential oil in a cup of decaf or cacao! Stuff's intense.

@meedstrom @xenodium @sanityinc Wow, I’m not a mint person, but that combo sounds really tempting!

Mind you, cocoa has stimulants too (caffeine + theobromine).

@sanityinc thank you! A new one to try! Anyone in particular you like?
@xenodium no, just any simple plain white tea is amazing, but it's also nice blended with a little lavender or rose occasionally.
@sanityinc ooh, intrigued. Thank you!
@xenodium hot chocolate, obviously
@fazalmajid oh yeah, I sometimes add cardamom to it!

@xenodium

I have a hot chocolate machine called the Hotel Chocolate Velvetiser to make proper hot chocolate, as opposed to hot cocoa (the former involves melting actual chocolate with cacao butter).

Another option, in winter, is clear soup like chicken consommé, miso shirt, beef stock and so on.

@fazalmajid Serious about hot chocolate! Love it.
@xenodium Mint tea. Sometimes, a mixed tea with cinnamon and orange peel.
@abstractsun oh yes. Mint is great. Will try the peels too!
