Hey, I am working on some printer vulnerabilities and I would like to tell everyone that printers suck just as bad in 2025 as they did in 1995.

On a related note:

@leerayl I feel like there is no incentive for them to be any better. It's like the companies know that there isn't a better option, so 🤷
@leerayl I wonder for how many decades, maybe centuries this gif could be relevant?
@leerayl Just yesterday I watched the talk about the Xerox pattern matching Bug… https://www.dkriesel.com/en/blog/2013/0802_xerox-workcentres_are_switching_written_numbers_when_scanning
Xerox scanners/photocopiers randomly alter numbers in scanned documents

Xerox scanners/photocopiers randomly alter numbers in scanned documents Please see the „condensed time line“ section (the next one) for a time line of how the Xerox saga unfolded. It for example depicts that I did not push the thing to the public right away, but gave Xerox a lot of time before I did so. <iframe width="700" height="394" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c0O6UXrOZJo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

@lennybacon funny, I live in a world where languages are a barrier in real life. One of the most underrated notes of technology is translating. I follow a lot of German sites, users, and friends, I must have not even noticed 🤣. Alexa tells me more about Eintract Frankfurt than the Seattle Seahawks.

@leerayl
Cause Eintracht Frankfurt is awesome 😉

@lennybacon

@leerayl this scene actually made me very sad. The old LJ3 and LJ4 were possibly the best printers ever made. Those things would just keep cranking out pages, and if there was a problem, they were easy to fix. Everything was an FRU that was easily accessible and replaceable!
@leerayl in 1995 your printer likely wasn't connected to the internet so it sucked less...today someone can literally pwn your printer from half a world away
@leerayl This gif has been on rotation weekly since Office Space came out...
@leerayl Aussie film, The Castle also has this, which I refer to on a weekly basis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wdpsen39Bo
