@gloriouscow since you work on an emulator, I think it would be beneficial to know that the fujinet firmware can be built into a "PC" version, that uses the underlying WIN32 or POSIX calls, with the intent to be hooked to an emulator. We've done this for Atari, Apple2, and TRS-80 CoCo, as seen here:

@rotopenguin expansions are temporarily disabled so I can test as a 128K Jr.
