i'm having trouble understanding why Senator Chris Murphy, who in many ways is the very embodiment of what it means to be a dude from #Connecticut, is the only member of Congress who seems to sufficiently both understand and relentlessly harp on the Trump family's crypto corruption but he's doing a great job and I'm here for it (even if he doesn't go into the fact that Trump is collaborating with Chinese organized crime companies and personalities like #Binance and Justin Sun)

Why is this kind of simple explanation of corruption so hard for the rest of the #Democrats?

@cryptadamist Senator Elizabeth Warren seems to get it too. She was just on Chris Hayes' show talking on the subject.
Banks (real banks) need to start failing again for this to really sink in for people.

@jab01701mid yeah she's good for sure though i feel like murphy is better at just explaining it in plain "just the facts" language without a lot of theater.

(i also think he actually understands how some of this stuff works, and from my own experiences having warren trumpet research i was involved in in the past in a way that was unhelpful i'm pretty sure she doesn't always actually understand)

@cryptadamist Kinda weird that his call to action is just like "hey this gross and illegal, he should stop probably, and people should know". instead of this is a clear as day violation of the constitution both in spirit and letter. We have no real choice if we care about upholding our oath of office, we need to move to immediately impeach the president.

Just like, I get there are all these reasons why that isn't the move, It's just a bit surreal that is where we're at.

@aeischeid i've heard him say it's blatantly illegal and unconstitutional many times even if he didn't say it this particular time.

(one of the things that's good about murphy is that he talks about this stuff pretty much constantly)

@cryptadamist @aeischeid

Very proud he is my Sen., and he isn't wrong, not even a little, but my gut is telling me he will run in '28, or '27 since we begin long before the election year.

We could do a lot worse, but by the time he gets there, will he be as corrupted as so many are?

He's not the only one I feel is testing the water...

@Sfwmson @aeischeid he's been there for 12 years already... i never heard of the guy before recently but i have been extremely impressed by him on a lot of levels. as it stands now i'd be pretty stoked if he were to run.

@Sfwmson @aeischeid

> "i've heard him say it's blatantly illegal and unconstitutional many times even if he didn't say it this particular time."

btw i heard this clip again because of autoplay and he explicitly does call out the emoluments clause violation (and extremely forcefully)

@cryptadamist @Sfwmson Yes, he does, and that is good!

The strange part to me with that in mind is how the whole call to action portion of his speech wasn't - immediately impeach. It's sort of the obvious next step, but not ...

Seriously, any previous president doing this

@aeischeid @cryptadamist

I mean "all" Bill Clinton did was get a BJ and then lie a little about what sex is...
