Why are ICE agents masked to begin with? Our law enforcement officers shouldn’t be anonymous. Ever.
@georgetakei Two reasons: To create fear and to avoid accountability.

@zakalwe @georgetakei
If they won’t show badge #s how do we know they’re not criminals?

They could be impersonating cops and don’t deserve to be obeyed

This is how death squads act

@AccordionBruce @zakalwe @georgetakei I would be curious how self defense laws would work if you injured them while defending yourself from thugs without ID or badge. Because you do have a right to defend yourself and in the scenerio you don't know they are actually government law enforcement. Anyone can say they are 'the police'. That alone doesn't abdicate your right to defend your body and rights.
@danni_storm @AccordionBruce @georgetakei There's already at least one reported case where a man sexually assaulted a 51-year-old woman while masquerading as an ICE operative.
@zakalwe @georgetakei @danni_storm
It’s not something I’d want to take to court without being prepared to fight and be made an example of, quite possibly losing badly

@AccordionBruce @zakalwe @georgetakei True, but do you just comply with anyone who says they are police, even if they refuse to provide proof?

(Legitimate question, I'm curious how others see this too)

@danni_storm @zakalwe @georgetakei
I think it is a very reasonable thing to normalize not getting into a car with masked unidentified assailants

There should be some sort of standardized response for being kidnapped by terrorists

Under past dictatorships I guess they used to recommend yelling out your name so that bystanders would know you were being disappeared?

Certainly requesting aid from bystanders in identifying who is detaining you so that someone will know where you will be taken
