Hmmm...the last three Star Trek shows that have been cancelled all had black leads. Nah, that couldn't be it, could it?

@punkonbuslives @zora Discovery and Lower Decks, I presume. Both went for their full five year contract. What is the third?

I think it was strictly that streaming services are focused on profits, not fan service.

Netflix is not very transparent about streaming statistics, but Prodigy does not even show up in the Netflix Top 100 lists.

Not at all. Both Discovery and Lower Decks ran 5 seasons, lasting longer than any other show in the Kurtzman era (so far).

Picard -- a show that should have been easy money -- only ran 3, and had to almost completely transform itself in it's final season.

Prodigy ran for 2, but would have only run for one if not for Netflix. But what it did in those two seasons is highly regarded. But probably REALLY expensive.

Strange New Worlds is about to hit it's 3rd, with a 4th promised. Will it hit 5 and bail like Disco and LD? Probably.

The lifespan of a series, and the length of their seasons in this modern era (even beyond Trek), are much shorter. From that perspective, 5 short seasons is probably going to be the new regular lifespan for Trek nowadays, unfortunately. :/
