"Immigration has done incalculable damage," Starmer will NEVER be forgiven for these words.

#Labour

@Geri @Tarnport

And this is the “good guy”?

@Geri Done irreparable damage to Labour's reputation
@Geri It was one local election. Strange that the success of progressive parties in local elections never causes the governing party to swerve violently to the left.

@Geri

One of the countries that doesn't get to complain about immigration is Britain. I can't think of anything more hypocritical than a British person complaining about another human being, upping sticks from their homeland, travelling around the world for a new life! When they still glorify their long dead Empire.

A few things come to mind when I read words like Starmer's - the reason some British people don't want people coming into their country is because they are frightened they will

@Geri

behave like they did when they rocked up to their shores.

Also, you shouldn't have went around the world proclaiming that everything and everyone they saw was now British and belonged them, this one of the consequences of that.

Of course, they want to come and see how great Britain is, you told them it was.

Do British people ever stop to think about the damage it did when it rocked up to the countries that they took over? That is the reason I speak English not Irish.

@jacqui76 good point, true for many other countries as well xx

@Geri

Unfortunately yes Geri, Ireland was only one of many countries that the British rocked up too and went about destroying the way of life that already existed there.

Plus they didn't even need to leave their own island to try and destroy other people's identity - Scotland, Wales and Cornwall all suffered.

@jacqui76 @Geri To be fair, it was mostly the Normans back then--the English were just their little minions at that point, watching and learning. How cool would be if we all spoke French, now tho?
Ça clâsserait sec!
@sothach @jacqui76 English, by virtue of the fact it has more words, is more sophisticated xx
@Geri @jacqui76 I've gotta say, I've come to appreciate English as the true pan-European language tho. It's all in there, from a base of raw Saxon, the Celtic creolisation, Latin, Danish, French. You couldn't create a conlang more representative of the people and history of this corner of the world.
@Geri
I'd underestimated what a nasty little man he really is.
@Geri It's like Morrissey has just been made prime minister.
@k22 @Geri True. Barbarism begins at Home.

@k22 @Geri heaven knows we're miserable now.

I wonder which of his ancestors the PM feels damaged him incalculably.

@mjr @k22 Bigmouth strikes again xx
@Geri He's right. Bloody Anglo-Saxons! Comin' over 'ere and laying down the whole basis of our future culture and language!
Oi! Angio-Saxons! If you come over 'ere, learn to speak the fucking language!

@sothach it's all Gerdagum to me xx
@Geri Never really undestood that stanza:
Hwæt! Wē Gārdena in gēardagum...
Listen up! We of the Garden hoses of bygone days...

@sothach I always read geardagum as "days of old"

It echoes the classical 'sing' muses as an opener

I assume a typo hoses on your part xx

@Geri "Gardena" are a large German manufacturer of garden hoses.
@sothach ah 😆
.and there I was thinking you were being serious xxx
@Geri
They will never out-farage Reform. They need to provide an alternative. I have no hope that they will
@Geri "Neoliberal quisling fucks have done incalculable damage".

@Geri

It must read: #Tories have made #uncalculable #Damage in #GreatBritain and nothing else.
#Labour adopted the #Hostility against #Refugees.
Shame on them.

@Geri

It would seem that the cheapest way to deal with "illegal immigration" (🤬 bullshit term, I know) is to help the countries of origin of these people.

But, then there wouldn't be votes in it.

@Geri
Oh no, the transphobic piece of shit is also racist?!

@Doomed_Daniel

I would be grateful if you would refrain from using that misogynistic slur as a term of abuse.

Thanks x

@Geri

Politicians have 'done incalculable damage', usually in the pursuit of their own agenda and greed, rather than in the interests of the country.

@Geri the list of statements and acts he should never be forgiven for has long since grown infinitely long.
