If they won’t show badge #s how do we know they’re not criminals?
They could be impersonating cops and don’t deserve to be obeyed
This is how death squads act
@AccordionBruce @zakalwe @georgetakei True, but do you just comply with anyone who says they are police, even if they refuse to provide proof?
(Legitimate question, I'm curious how others see this too)
@danni_storm @zakalwe @georgetakei
I think it is a very reasonable thing to normalize not getting into a car with masked unidentified assailants
There should be some sort of standardized response for being kidnapped by terrorists
Under past dictatorships I guess they used to recommend yelling out your name so that bystanders would know you were being disappeared?
Certainly requesting aid from bystanders in identifying who is detaining you so that someone will know where you will be taken
@AccordionBruce @zakalwe @georgetakei
Having a badge to show doesn't make anyone not a criminal. Cops break the law pretty much every day.
@AccordionBruce @zakalwe @georgetakei
That doesn't stop them from committing crimes. For example:

am i imagining things, or are some of them also putting nylon hose netting on top of their ski masks, to futher blur their eyes and evade iris-recognition tech?
That's clever. These guys know how facial recognition works. Note, too, that his ears are covered. That's a facial recognition fail. The only tell I can spot is the distance between his eyes. Even that is fuzzy. And what color are they, anyway?
It’s not blurring their eyes, it’s faking a whole other face. It’s a new thing you should be aware of:
@Quarky @georgetakei Exactly. If you're operating lawfully there's no need for a mask, is there? Right? Hello.
On the other hand, if you're breaking the law, pushing the envelope...
@georgetakei Reminds me of Hong Kong during the 2019 anti-dictatorship protests. The regime banned wearing masks, but, as diktated by the CCP in Beijing, in early 2020 wearing masks was ruled compulsory.
That in itself isn't insane (see: "Wuhan virus aka Covid19), but the "law" making mask-wearing illegal remained in the books and was even enforced!
In the end Hongkongers lost their fight for the promised democratic rights and civil liberties.
You don't want that happening to your country. You really don't.
They mask up because they understand that they are a paramilitary force operating outside the law, not law enforcement officers at all. As such they know they could be brought to justice for their actions at some point, or at the very least socially shunned. They hope to avoid that.
They wear masks, don't show warrants, and don't show verifiable ID of any kind. Not only does this indicate they are clearly concerned about their actions being illegal (as many have pointed out already) but any random crime gang who wanted to could pose as ICE to facilitate kidnappings. Aside from being immoral and often illegal, it's shockingly unwise policy that puts the public at grave risk.
