Esteemed #Fediverse
in the past days I have read many threads about the importance of facts in social networks and federating them.
On the other hand, the co-founder of wikipedia, Dr. Larry Sanger wants to create a "censorship resistant federated wikipedia". He became an altright conspiracy theorist and is part of Trumps culture-revolution-thinktank.
My fear is that they will not only remove tax status but also target Jimmy Wales, contributors and in the end the org domains.
In the last sleepless night the @skyfaller wrote „Instead of Action News, perhaps we need actionable news.“ https://digitalcourage.social/@sl007/114469269759393822
So, to whom it may concern;
In the following first long part of a long thread, I will leave some thoughts about #federating #wikidata and #wikipedia with #ActivityPub

@[email protected] Yep. Full ack Doing 3 ActivityPub Clients in this field. Actionable news means federated news. [see our book or pinned talk] The plan is :) 1) Making it super easy for anyone to create ActivityPub Clients. Diversity must be default. 2) Bringing facts to fedi, federating wikidata and OSM and centering anything around facts and common knowledge. This does not mean, that there is no feelings or fictional. Just anyone should have the ability to indicate fictionality. 3) Mutual help, we do menschys, another client for conneting and helping each other 4) Together with the data bring people to the streets, do quizzes or geogames from these, connect the physical community. 5) Different communities can enhance common data differently, e.g. a third client, taxiteam (FCK uber) comes with federated geocoding and local fair drivers can enhance Places or current events very detailed. 🧵 1/2
