@adafruit that's horrible. Hope you have the means to survive this!
I've bought your stuff before, and I'm in Europe. No idea how much you export again, but perhaps relocating part of the business might save the fees there? I imagine that would be a complicated choice though.
I desperately hope that @adafruit and other US-based electronics prototyping suppliers survive the current presidential administration. My lab and many others depend on them for the fundamentals of research and development.
Our national capacity for engineering innovation is being dismantled on multiple fronts.

It is extremely tempting to submit comments along the lines of "first, stop destroying America's ability to do science"
Request for Information (RFI) for the American Science Acceleration Project (ASAP), a bipartisan initiative aimed at making advancements in U.S. science ten times faster by 2030: https://www.heinrich.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases/heinrich-rounds-seeking-public-input-on-initiative-to-accelerate-advancements-in-american-science-asap Unfortunately and as usual, this asks for comments on 1 DATA 2 COMPUTING 3 AI 4 COLLABORATION 5 PROCESSES but not software (other than what's embedded in AI)
@vicker249 @adafruit No, and there can't be, not without billions of dollars of investment over decades. And that's assuming you can legally manufacture those things in the US at all; for example Copyright plays a role, but also whether you can source the needed material in the US, period. There are things where outside of the US is the only option, period, no getting around it.
(And that's bonus extra true for anything going into electronics)
Ooof! That is awful! I am so sorry!
Looks like I won't be doing much ham radio anymore.
@adafruit Yes. From a great distance, it all looks like a great curtain falling.
Together with so many other people, I watch with some fascination, wondering what is going to be visible on the other side of it.
@adafruit does anyone understand how this figure is calculated? I am admittedly bad at math, but I don't understand at all how we get to $36,126.46 on this invoice.
125% + 20% + 25% = 165%
The sum of all non IMPORT EXPORT DUTIES on that invoice is $1007.84, 165% of $1007.84 is $1662.93, so $1007.84 + $1662.93 = $2670.77, right?
$36,126.46 is over 3,584% of $1007.84, right? How do you get there from 125% + 20% + 25%?
@bajabanjo @adafruit
Usually you don't use addition for percentages but multiplication
Adding fees of 125% and 25% and 65% is price×(1+125/100)×(1+25/100)×(1+65/100)... it's price×4.64
Yes, the final price is 4.64 times the initial price (increase of 364%)
Hi @adafruit
I wish you'll survive the crisis.
I'm sure there are countries which would welcome you, countries where health care and education are cost are mutualized by all citizens, where you don't have gun mass murders in schools, where there is no list of forbidden words, where the eye of Sauron does not look after you.

@adafruit Pivot to European markets, or use non US alternatives.
Don't be bullied into paying
@adafruit Like what Drump supporters say, ironically, these tariffs are worth it....
Hopefully thanks to these tariffs, once they hit the American idiot, it won't vote for fascists again.
