If you want any help with using Mastodon or the rest of the Fediverse, feel free to ask! To get in touch you can mention me or DM me or reply to any of my threads, whatever you find easiest.

This account is mainly meant to be about helping people directly rather than just doing mass audience posts. I'm especially keen to help new or non-technical people.

@FediTips To thou who has offered to help the unwashed masses, I make this plea:

I'm using Mastodon on my phone, via the webpage of my host server, not an app. Whenever I rotate to landscape (usually on accident), it moves me from my home feed to "Getting Started", but it doesn't move me back when I return, meaning I lose my place.

Is there a setting to turn off that behavior? Is it secretly helpful in some way I'm missing?

Are you using the advanced web interface? You can check by going to ⚙️ Preferences and seeing if the "Enable advanced web interface" option is ticked.

Generally it's better not to use the advanced web interface on phones as it's mainly designed for large wide screens.

@patricus @FediTips @podcast @Ericbomb I dabble with console emulators on PC, but that’s not my main focus. interactive fiction titles and Game books such as Fighting Fantasy but also Indie games mostly. A few AAA titles such as Halo, gears of war, Max pain, Max pain too, Max pain three, a few horror games, all of the resident evil series, the last of us, and then others like Final Fantasy, sports, tower defense games, JRPG, RPG, fighting games, think, injustice, soul caliber, mortal Kombat. And then, even more text based Muds and of course table top games. Dungeons and dragons and similar styles. Puzzle games such as Thomas Was Alone. Portal 1 and 2 and so on. And then of course audio games of all kinds. I also play a ton of mobile games. Think Timecrest. I also develop text based games such as Choice games. The brand. Choice games. I have an Xbox, and a PlayStation five.

Copy-paste the video's web address from the browser into your search box on Mastodon. This will make the video appear in your Mastodon timeline and you can comment by replying.

You can also subscribe by following the account and like the video by favouriting it. If you follow, the videos will start appearing in your Mastodon timeline and you won't need to copy-paste to comment on them.

There are thousands of Mastodon servers and people may have accounts on multiple different servers, so PeerTube doesn't know exactly where on Mastodon you want to open it. Such an option would require you to type the name of your Mastodon server, so it would still be a bit fiddly. But this is how Mastodon share add-ons work on websites, so this feature could be added, good suggestion!

You can't dislike from Mastodon because Mastodon has no interface for sending negative votes.
