Made my first foray into moving a client’s hosting to a Canadian company (away from US hosts). Two companies really. First, the domain registration and DNS, to register.ca, and second, mail, to canhost.ca. Required a little futzing with the DNS, but the support folks on both were helpful helping me to understand a couple of their respective esoteric idiosyncrasies. For reasons, I won't be able to migrate all clients like this, but for a client with some basic needs, these services seem to be working just fine. #BuyCanadian #CanadaFirst
@mykl I’ve been using easyDNS out of Mississauga for all of this for a couple of decades. They recently changed to pricing in US Dollars for all their customers, which has been annoying but at my scale is not an absolute showstopper.
@AnthonyReimer easyDNS is on my radar because they have an S3 alternative, but this USD thing gets my goat. I have to re-bill clients, and the exchange conversion would be a moving target. :(
@mykl Thanks for the tip! Looking at migrating a domain with register.ca but asked support if they have email forwarding because that would be required for me.
