I’m playing with 3D tree shapes for a big, collaborative project in early June. I want easy to construct trees that can have collage elements added by each participant.
One is two, fussy cut shapes glued together.
My simple, triangle trees I made from the cutoff pieces left after making a giant, 3D snowflake out of an art history book. I used spray acrylic, although one I painted with watercolor.

I made a larger triangle tree maquette last night. As fun as the twist branches tree is, I feel like the triangle tree will be easiest for a new person to make. There is a lot of surface for collage to be added. We might even make up a small kit with the three triangles already cut, maybe even folded.

It’s been a while, I’ve been busy making things and haven’t had the energy to post them!
Having settled on a simple shape that will be easy for people to make I finally have collaged two trees! One was made using a whole sheet of paper I collaged first. The checkerboard tree was glued one piece at a time!

More trees! The “triangle tree” is the winner! I’ve created several for #CollageORama which kicks off on #WorldCollageDay. They will be on display at the Slip Gallery in #Seattle ahead of my leading #CommuniTree on June 7th! This is an epic add-and-pass collage event where we’ll make trees and pass them around for everyone to add collage on to! Trees will have pockets for everyone to add their name.
My friend who is the genius behind #CollageORama mentioned that a big tree would be a cool addition to Slip Gallery.
So I’ve been turning the box that held solar panels into a big tree (about 26 inches)! I am working hard to get it finished so another friend can transport it to Seattle Thursday!
