The site of Bayernwald, in Flanders known as “#Croonaertbos” was part of the German front line during WWI, known as the “#Wijtschateboge” and “#Ypernboge”. It was conquered by the Bavarian Army of Crown Prince Rupprecht von Bayern in 1914.
