Trump disdains conservatism. His governing philosophy is absolute power

The president’s clashes with the judiciary over immigration have launched a constitutional crisis. We’re headed toward a collision

@FatherEnoch

I don't think it is, or at least, was. It is (used to be) about restraining the power of the state by small government, low taxes paid to said government, distributed power, freedom of speech, etc. The old motto: A man's home is his castle.

However, the state has been hijacked by billionaires and companies, allies, and now masters of the old conservatism. Now it;s about siphoning money up from the bottom half to the obscenely greedy top 0.1%

@Nigel_Purchase

Yeah, I'm sorry, but that's all bullshit and always had been.

Conservatives NEVER wanted "small government" they just wanted to the government to never touch THEM.

The #HayesAct, the #RedScares, the #ForcedSterilizations, and eventually, the "prolife movement." Not to mention "supporting the military" and feeding the #prisonIndustrialcomplex."

Can't do any of these with "small governments."
