https://ground.news/article/sudanese-return-to-their-homeland-hoping-for-stability-but-finding-it-still-wrecked-by-war?utm_source=mobile-app&utm_medium=article-share My #EpiscopalChurch has sponsored & supported several #Sudanese #refugees over the years, including a now priest (who is one of my favorite people & the only ordination I’ve attended since Covid) Few, if any, of the families we’ve helped settle in the U.S. are thinking of returning to #Sudan this story reminds us of the importance of welcoming #immigrants & of #home These are people who have fled #war & #famine as the Israelites did in the Old Testament. These are people seeking a better life & future for themselves & their families. When we call for an end to #immigration we forget that our forbears were all #immigrants at some point. We forget that we are called to welcome others as we were welcomed. On the #NationalDayofPrayer let us all pray for the grace to welcome strangers, seeing in them our future friends.
