I am finally ready to contribute to the Drama Recs Challenge!

Day 1: what I'd recommend for someone's FIRST drama

#HerPrivateLife about a gallery curator by-day, kpop-stan by night woman, plus friends, family, and love interests. Funny, sexy, good intro to #kpop fandom and #kdrama

Day 2: what I'd recommend to someone looking for an epic love story

#MyDearest could be described as the Korean version of "Gone With The Wind" where we are first introduced to the leads in a halcyon hey-day of wealth, prosperity, and class separation in ancient Joseon, before the war comes. Both leads go through incredible challenges separately and together.

Day 3: what I'd recommend to someone looking for a gripping thriller

#LittleWomen is a major twist to the classic novel of three poor sisters with dreams. The colors of the episodes are rich and vibrant, the characters are beautiful and ... uncertain. What you know at the end of one episode is not necessarily what you know in the next episode.

Day 4: what I'd recommend to someone looking for a powerful performance

#Jeongnyeon is about a troupe of female stage musical - gukgeuk - performers, specifically with a feisty young woman from a small fishing village who works to become a star on stage. You will be *invested* in the stories both on and off the stage. 🤩

Day 5: what I'd recommend to someone looking for a compelling historical

#TheGreatQueenSeondeok is a massive epic (62 hour long episodes!) that starts just before Deokman is born, to her multilingual childhood, her gender-bending young adulthood as a soldier, battling mysticism with science (and more mysticism) to gain the crown, the sacrifices women need to make to hold power, and seeing the pros and cons of investing finite time and resources into war vs advancement.

Day 6: what I'd recommend to someone looking for an office romance drama

#FindYourself is a cdrama where a 32yo single career woman figures out what it is she wants from life, while also being the love interest of a younger man in her office and a slightly older man she gets along well with. How old is too old to be single if you're a woman? What double standards are there for men? What if what you want isn't what society tells you to want?

Day 7: what I'd recommend to someone looking for a great ensemble cast

#AKoreanOdyssey is so fun, with many animal deities as humans, FT Island's Lee Hong-Ki as a pig deity, Lee Seung-gi with iconic triangle bangs as a monkey deity, Lee Se-Young as the most adorable zombie you've ever seen, a murderous dog secretary, a gender fluid summer/winter god, an octopus prince, and a demon-repelling yellow polka dotted umbrella.

Day 8: what I'd recommend to someone looking for a slice of life drama

#HospitalPlaylist is about five 40yo surgeons who were friends in university and end up all working at a teaching hospital together. For fun, they also play in a band together in one member's basement.

We see their friendships, families, relationships, careers, and some inner workings of growing new surgeons in a teaching hospital environment.

Day 9: what I'd recommend to someone looking for a twisty revenge drama

#TheDouble is a gorgeously shot drama about A'Fei, a woman whose beloved husband decides to bury her alive in a mountain forest, who decides to fill in for someone else's life in order to get revenge. Murder, revenge, beautiful people, tricks, cleverness, superhuman skills... It was so popular that Netflix bought the rights while it was still airing.

Day 10: what I'd recommend to someone looking for found family

#MoonlightChicken A series that is beautifully shot and pulls your heart strings as Jim, a man who had to be strong for many, grapples with allowing himself to lean on Wen, who wants someplace to call home. Learning to be vulnerable and having love and care for this found family Jim's cobbled together. Plus the cutest pickup truck.

Day 12: what I'd recommend to someone looking for stunning production design

#MrSunshine has the filming location now as a tourist spot, featuring the Glory Hotel, trolley railway through a small town block, and various buildings that combine east, west, historic, and modern. Even the costume design of Kudo Hina and all her gowns is amazing.

Day 13: what I'd recommend to someone looking for a hilarious comedy

#BadProsecutor is about as close to a comedy as I'll watch. They play up laughs and also have serious stuff. He's full of himself, unwilling to kiss ass at work, has a dedicated gang of outcasts as his back up, trying to solve Big Crimes but stuck catching lost dogs. And the friends he makes along the way.

Please clap as I have a dozen more Bad Prosecutor pics I could have used but RESTRAINED MYSELF.
@JillsJoy So cool. I missed something, are you there?
@coffeemug nope. Home and watching hockey on TV. 🙂
@JillsJoy Should have guessed. I'm trying to watch but the wifi keeps cutting out. last I saw it was still 0-0 Sirens vs Frost...
@JillsJoy Thoroughly agree and I highly recommend it as well.
