Okay, let's try this again. I did not use this account for about nineteen months - because actually there didn't happen a lot in terms of me reading or otherwise focusing on #AncientHistory or #AncMedReception. I obviously needed a break.

Nevertheless I read @rickriordan 's first two new installments of the #PercyJackson franchise ("The Chalice of the Gods", "The Triple-Headed Goddess"), watched the new PJ.-TV-series, a new #Asterix came out ("The White Iris"), #Domina got a 2nd season ... 1/n

... I finally finished Harper's #TheWolfsDen-trilogy with "The Temple of Fortuna", read the amazing graphic novel on #Aristoteles by Apostolidis/Papadatos, and so far avoided the sequels to #BloodOfZeus and #Gladiator as well as the short-lived #KAOS on Netflix.

My major connection to the "Classics" since 2023 were my then new #Latin students, who are now quickly approaching their first lessons into literature studies instead of just working through their basic grammar and vocabulary. 2/n

Sadly a lot of them had quite some troubles with their studies during the last year & are still struggling to get a new hold on the language. Thanks to a new teaching style I adapted about six months ago they'll be fine, I guess, but their motivation needs some serious push right now.

I'm still sad that I'm not allowed to use Orbergs #LLPSI in regular class - especially since I'm using it with some special learners who are studying with me this year to enter regular classes in the summer. 3/n

The progress these learners are making with the "Latin-only" approach is astonishing.

It's a shame that most of the students and their parents can't see the difference this type of course makes. Which really is a problem as the numbers of kids in our courses dwindles every year. I am pretty sure that classes in Latin will become obsolete in my lifetime - at least at my school. A sad reality that my colleagues and I had to grasp over time as certain decisions from the headmaster were made. 4/n

Well, I'll try to make at least weekly updates to this account and (re-)connect to some people I seem to have lost with my move to an alt-account on a different server.

Let's see where this journey takes me from here on.
