The "move fast and break things" era is over. "Move thoughtfully and fix things" is up.
@Daojoan thoughtfully fixing things was always the winning strategy. The move fast and break things was for simpletons like Musk
@Daojoan Is not over 'till we make The Zuck, the Musk and the Bezos irrelevant, then healing can began
@Daojoan Unfortunately, it's walk away and blame others time.
@Daojoan fyi, I designed these โ€œMove purposefully and fix thingsโ€ stickers a while back, but itโ€™s Creative Commons, so feel free to use it however you like. https://docpop.org/2023/10/move-purposefully-and-fix-things/
Move Purposefully And Fix Things - Doc Pop's Weblog

In 2018, I created the "Move Purposefully and Fix Things" sticker to help counter the "Move Fast And Break Things" mentality of Silicone Valley.

Doc Pop's Weblog

@Daojoan yeah.

We need #SolarPunk & #HopePunk to be done practically...

@Daojoan "move fast and break things" is the most unsustainable motto humanity ever came up with
@froufox @Daojoan It always, was "Move Fast, STEAL and Break Things." That's where the billions came from. From stealing. Mainly from the fiscus or common goods like the internet or breaking consumer protection -to more easily steal.
@Daojoan It never was a thing. Can we throw Agile and Design Patterns on the same bonfire while we're at it.

@megatronicthronbanks @Daojoan

Agile methodology, was / is a load of bollos!
The theory, behind it is it seems a salesman's dream product to sell?

We tried it and gave it the other Aigle the Wellington boot! (Had a pair, hard to get off after a day out! My pair dried & rotted in a short time.

Oddly used by the uk government so you can see ho they screwup easily & all the time!

@Daojoan โ€ฆ where and by whom ?
@Daojoan
I sincerely hope you are correct.
@Daojoan I'd very much like to believe that, but I think we have further down to go before we understand what thoughtfully and fix mean.

@Daojoan

*thoughtful* and *emergency repair* don't pair so up easily, I fear.

@rexi @Daojoan Exactly. Thoughtful reforms have been the order of the day, but they are inevitably outpaced by destructive actions. The ship is taking on water and sinking fast. Bold and decisive action is the only way to prevent a disaster.

@Daojoan

breakfast and move things

@Daojoan We'd better move fast and fix things or it's all going to collapse. The ponderous pace of the Biden years in fixing things and this "don't rock the boat" mentality on reform has caused a situation where more damage is done than fixed. Bold, radical ideas are needed to restructure what has been damaged or destroyed.
@Daojoan "Move thoughtfully and fix things centered in your interestsโ€: Once everything has been broken who benefits from the direction of fixing things? So Trump set someone to break everything (on purpose) and now he realizes it was โ€œa mistakeโ€ he is going to solve it โ€œrightfullyโ€œ? You cannot be simpler.
@Daojoan Kind of like the author who ~20 years ago pointed out how being โ€œcoolโ€ turned into not caring, & how we should make it cool to care

@Daojoan

Should be, but here we are any how.

@Daojoan Oh you sweet, innocent, summer child. We've gone from "move fast and break things" to "break all the things and hope something comes out of it!".
@elricofmelnibone @Daojoan Correct. And those in power get to choose what to pour money into. To "fix" - at great profit to the fixers and great cost to the rest.
@Daojoan have you told Trump this? He's firmly in the past...

@Daojoan I hope you are right!

But I'm afraid it won't be over until the AI bubble bursts. Until then, lots of things can get broken.

@Daojoan they canโ€™t. They can orly break it. Then they expect someone else to fix it.
@Daojoan It was always a stupid and bratty phrase. It implies that others have to clean up after you.
@Daojoan Yay for more thoughtful action! Both those mottos remind me of: โ€œGood. Fast. Inexpensive. Pick two.โ€
@Daojoan Man, this is going to piss off the Elon Wizards. 'Whaa! Breaking was so much EASIER!'

@Daojoan I love the "Move slow and mend things" stickers from #38c3. Couldn't find an image online though, just the version from #37c3 which is still a nice design for a great message โค๏ธ

#moveslowandmendthings

@dreua @Daojoan there you go!

@mamsell @dreua @Daojoan

It is indeed. Repaired a multitude of stuff today for the family members. Again.

Time to fix things on a larger scale... ?!

@Daojoan I really really really wish this was true, but I don't see anything to indicate it's ending. It may be about to reach critical mass though...

@Daojoan a smart person (not me) suggested it should be "grandpas with toolboxes" era

@Daojoan Or as a great philosopher once said: "Stop! Hammertime.".

A great motto to live by!
