I started on a Star of Hell's Horses and three Points of Jade Falcons to wrap up the multi-year Clan Invasion loot. In my haste I accidentally painted the Crossbow in the wrong gang 😅 "Oho".
The fifth horsie was to be an old IWM Nova coming for a repaint. So I'll keep on fixing my own endless cockups, as usual. I painted them with a dark grey + drop of blue over black primer, hoping it'd work with the hot rod flames 🤔 We'll see how it goes soonish.
Ok, another evening of #MiniaturePainting fixing my #BattleTech sillinesses: the Crossbow is now brought to the level of the other two, and an old Nova rebased with the dark grey + bluish grey + black mixture.
Tomorrow flames for the My Little Hell's Horsies. It'll be more freehanding so it's probably going to be bad. Maybe I'll have ZZ Top on the background, it either helps or makes it even worse 😄
Little detail work this evening: jade panels for the Falcons and some weird red flame areas for the Horses. Especially the flame shapes left much to desire, but maybe the yellows would improve them.
This was quite fun even if I am properly pleased with only some of the flames. Decent for the first attempt, I hope! The backs were left pretty much untouched. Maybe I should consider adding more... or just let them be, the fronts are supposed to be the thing.
Over the RLM23 red I used a mix of medium fleshtone and yellow ochre, for the yellows, because I had no actual yellow paint 😅 The hottest bits got some skeleton white drybrushed on for hotness maximus.
Jeweling for energy weapons and the Jade Falcon cockpits, also Jump Jets for those three that have them installed. I didn't have time for everything, maybe I do some of blue cockpits for the horsies, it should stand out against red/yellow 🤔 Any random yellowish sensors are also missing yet.
After that it's some caution stripes and the Falcon Clan/Cluster insignia, numbers and such. Most likely that stuff spreads over some sessions.
Horsey cockpits done now as well, I flipflopped for a moment between blue and green, blue won. I felt it would stand out a bit more.
Any random sensor lenses, like Pack Hunter's head bits and some rangefinders I did with Orange Fire + lighter layers. Maybe it worked acceptably.
Just before I had to pack up to drive the kids to hobbies I added a few preparatory yellow ochre stripes for hazard markings. I like those, in certain quantities and coverage.
Younger one turned eight on Saturday so it's been a couple of paintless evenings. I pretty much wrapped up the few caution stripes on Falcons, glossed all jewelings, and started flames for the Heckin' Ponies' hex base front edges.
Now I've been putting off the numbers/roundels of the Falcons. Maybe tomorrow.
It'll be an otherwise busy week so this may be the only update in a bit. I took it upon myself to finish the flames for the Hell's Horse front hex edges with yellow ochre and white.
The three Falcons got their Clan insignias (one or two each), and the Gamma Galaxy (Left Leg) and 3rd Falcon Talon Cluster (Right Leg) markings as well. I still suck at freehanding, but such is life 😄
Bases next, very simply again I would imagine.
Hah, I managed some 45mins and got the bases covered in Vallejo's mud and the Jade Falcons pin washed, with Abteilung's Sepia.
Now they wait in the sauna for a few nights, at worst until the first full week of May.
Well, I found a tiny bit of time after all. Some medium fleshtone drybrushing for the Falcon bases, a thinned down cold grey on the Horse based, followed by some even thinner and lighter stonewall grey.
I guess there's some touchups to be done when we come back from the short trip, and then photos and a new project! Yay!
These were done ages ago but the photos are here only now. I bet you all had been holding your breaths since late April!
A full Star of Hell's Horses of the Alpha Keshik, and three more Points to my Jade Falcon / Gamma Galaxy / 3rd Falcon Talon Cluster. I'm most happy with the jewels on Nova Cat's three ER Large Lasers. Sometimes they end up looking great, and that is nice.
