Remembering all the white trans people who were panicking about cops coming to their doors to drag them away into camps and following them into bathrooms

Noticing how many of them are silent about nonwhite immigrants being abducted and dragged away into camps and black women being followed into bathrooms by cops

No fucking sense of solidarity at all, even after all this time

Reminder that some of the first bathroom bans in this country were aimed at Black women and Black people specifically

Black people have been facing gender oppression before "transgender" as a Western medical construct was even a thing

"A Black 19-year-old cisgender lesbian from Phoenix is demanding accountability after she was confronted by two male sheriff’s deputies in a Tucson Walmart women’s restroom last week.

Arizona resident Kalaya Morton, who describes herself as a stud, or masculine-presenting woman, says the deputies were called by a store employee who allegedly assumed she was a transgender woman."

Again, Black people of all genders experience ungendering independent of being trans or not

And this ungendering (thanks chattel slavery) has everything to do with how the gender binary is shaped and understood

Black women can never fully be women in the antiblack world we live in because Black people aren't seen as human and only humans have genders

Where Black peoples gender ends is where nonblack people's gender begins

Some people have brought up this instance of a white trans woman getting arrested for using the bathroom in Florida, as a counterpoint

Here's the thing: this was a planned protest. Conversely, the Black lesbian using the restroom was just trying to pee, in a non-federal building.

Marcy (the white trans woman) "sent letters earlier in March to Florida lawmakers warning them that she planned to use a specific women’s bathroom in the Capitol and included a photo of herself for identification."

Marcy had a reporter from the Tampa Bay Times accompany her. When she arrived "she was met outside by two officers who said they would try to work with her. Rheintgen decided to use the bathroom anyway."

Only THEN was she arrested.

Meanwhile Kalaya, the Black queer gender nonconfirming woman, was just trying to take a piss and THAT was enough to get the cops sicced on her.

If you can't tell the difference between these two things............

Minnesota teen says server forced her to prove her gender in restaurant bathroom

@so_treu A profound irony is that in the good-old-days that the racists like to bleat about, there were only 3 bathrooms in most segregated places: Men, Women and Colored (which was unisex)

Just had to find some new way to be bigots, I guess.
