@PhoenixSerenity I have gotten very angry before at brain “experts”
who insist that “everybody” lies (and anyone who says they don’t is lying). I question their brain expertise if they’re not even aware of the existence if autistic people.

@Cassandra @PhoenixSerenity

I have lied on the very rare occasion, badly, & suffered awful guilt afterwards.

@PhoenixSerenity

Thanks for this. I was aware, but an article like this is handy to have for educational purposes.

@Susan60 Please take with grains of sand as I don't agree with their lie by omissions advice at all.

@PhoenixSerenity

I think their overall message & intent is good, but they’re also promoting masking strategies, & that is one of them. Sometimes we need to mask, for our own safety or that of others, but it’s problematic.

@PhoenixSerenity
There's also a phenomenon where the experience of having been gaslit makes it difficult to calibrate the honesty detector. I feel like there should be an option for that as well
@h3mmy True enough! I have definitely experienced that after being gaslit for years & pushing my strong intuitions aside to try to 'keep the peace'.
@PhoenixSerenity I’m not autistic, but post the results! And as you requested: I didn’t vote.
@rlstone4dems Thank you! Poll runs until tomorrow 🙂

@PhoenixSerenity being told I’m imagining things and/or crazy has been the biggest trigger in my life for most of the last decade. I’ve realized that it will still happen even after you’re proven right about something.

All the covid denial has been torture but not the first time I dealt with people refusing to believe that public health wasn’t there to save us.

@PhoenixSerenity people can not be honest with you and still not be gaslighting you, though. gaslighting is a specific thing.
