1.5 years ago I opened a shop, gallery & studio in my Red state that would celebrate, cater to and mainly offer the work of left-leaning LGBT+, disabled, POC, etc artists, slowly-less-quietly resisting while superficially being another cute tourist shop selling work by local artists.

I didn't expect to make big money, but hoped to do just enough better than breaking even to keep it from actually costing me $$ to support & promote marginalized artists & have my own lil studio. Helpfully,

...rent is very low, but so is foot traffic, and it's becoming unsustainable for me, my only income being disability myself (which could disappear any day). I'm giving myself until July 1 to decide whether to close, but if I do I don't know how I'll do my art or where I'll put any of this stuff, I don't have any space at home. I wish I understood how I can reach my goals & what the best next steps are for Coming Up Violets! but if anyone has any helpful insight, ideas, advice or would share

...the shop website and encourage your friends who are seeking out gifts for loved ones to pick up some items from anti-fascist #artists, #Penzeys, #TheBitterSoutherner, etc, I'd be so appreciative. I'm not going to be making a big profit here, just hopefully ceasing to bleed money so I can keep doing what I do and try to expand my efforts to create a little, safe space for folks like us here in #Alabama.
