My BFF is only a rare guest in my #pnp games due to her tight work schedule. But the real problem is that we have this running gag where she asks me 1-3x a year to run a game for her and some friends, which I then prep and organize ... only to run it without her bc she fell sick just before the date. It happens so often that we have to assume a curse is at work here. We have a fixed game date once a year which usually works out but every other attempt around the year gets foiled by the plague. It is uncanny.

So, when I prepared the game for tomorrow in a way that I can easily shift the narrative function of her character to the others, I thought myself being pessimistic. But guess who got sick with a cold just yesterday. She is at home, hot water bottle on her lap, rolled up in a blanket and pissed at the whole thing but I am at the point where I start to see the humor in it. She has initiated so many games over the years that turned out to be great and memorable. And missed all of them. That has to be a curse.

Oh, well. I do hope she gets better soon. Probably right when the holidays are over. As a double f-you from the universe. I wondered if she angered a witch or something.

@orangelantern

wish your friend getting well real fast ๐Ÿ™‚

also the Universe has sick sense of humour, we humans just have to deal with it somehow.

I solved my not being able to play ttrpg games because of scheduling by finding a text based game that runs Mo-Fr. ๐Ÿ˜„
usually starts around 20:30h CET with a live GM and we play using a MUSH server to hold the world and handle all the dice rolling and character sheets ๐Ÿ˜ƒ the whole RP and gaming part is done by human players.

It has a really nice old school feel to it and its a ton of fun playing a super hero so often ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Get her to join in via zoom and she can snark as an AI or ghost or something!
@Kalshann we actually talked about that.  But she's down with a sore throat and completely bonked out by the cold, currently sleeping most of the day. So I guess we have to skip on that this time.

But we do have a setup in our living/game room that is pretty ideal for that sort of thing and we have done so before with others (we once had a player joining in remotely from Austria, which worked really well).

She doesn't get sick that often but when she does, it's always something major.
@orangelantern
Well, I wish her well. And goodluck in the game.
Maybe try getting someone else to run next time, you two get to play together then, if that would sidestep the curse?
@Kalshann I will relay this. ๐Ÿงก
And, nah, we tried that too. In one case another friend took the wheel - sick. When she tried to do it - sick again. It worked once two years ago and we thought the curse was broken. But, erm, it took that as a challenge, apparently, because next time we tried it this way *I* got sick. It's been back to "normal" after that ever since.

But we do have a campaign together that comes together once a year in November/December. That worked out so far.
